Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Byzantine Greek χορταίνω (khortaínō), from Ancient Greek χορτάζω (khortázō, fatten -of cattle-, later sense feed) and metaplasm to the verb suffix -αίνω (-aíno).[1][2]
