Etymology 1[edit]
Originally Hokkien. It is possibly a reference to 龜毛兔角/龟毛兔角 (guīmáotùjiǎo) ("an impossibility", literally "turtle fur and rabbit horns"), a Buddhist metaphor that describes hollow or specious logic.
