Etymology[edit]

From 사랑 (sarang) +‎ 하다 (-hada, to do, light verb deriving active verbs). First attested in the Yongbi eocheon'ga (龍飛御天歌 / 용비어천가), 1447, as Middle Korean ᄉᆞ라ᇰᄒᆞ다〮 (Yale: sòlàng-hòtá).
