From a Proto-Indo-European *aukw- (cooking pot), *Hukʷ-, *ukwnos (compare Old Armenian ակութ (akutʿ), Albanian anë, Latin aulla, olla, Ancient Greek ἰπνός (ipnós), Old Norse and Old English ofn (English oven).
