qagħad (imperfect joqgħod, past participle maqgħud, active participle qiegħed or qiegħad, verbal noun qgħad)

to be, to stay (in a place)
Qgħadt fuq is-sufan nofs siegħa. ― I stayed on the sofa for half an hour.
to spend time (doing something)
Qgħadt taqra. ― You spent time reading.
to live, to reside (somewhere)
Bħalissa m’iniex noqgħod Malta. ― Currently I am not living in Malta.
to stand up [with bilwieqfa]
Synonym: qam

Oqgħod bilwieqfa sakemm jidħol il-president. ― Stand up while the president is entering.

Synonym: poġġa
