The word is pronounced as if spelled Östereicher, with a mid schwa /ə/ as the second vowel, rather than the open schwa /ɐ/, which is what the spelling suggests. Regionally however (including in Austria), any /ə/ can be lowered to [ɐ] when followed by /r/.
