Etymology

From Ottoman Turkish ایلیمق (ılımak, to grow lukewarm), from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Turkic *jɨlɨ- (to be warm).

Cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (yılı-, to warm up), Turkmen ýylamak (to warm up), Uzbek ilimoq (to warm up).

Verb

ılımak (third-person singular simple present ılır)

  1. (intransitive) to get slightly warm, warm up a bit; to get lukewarm, get tepid
