Etymology
[edit]From Classical Mongolian ᠮᠥᠷᠡᠨ (mören, “big river”), from Middle Mongol ᠮᠦᠷᠡᠨ / 沐舌慩河 (“river”), from Proto-Mongolic *mören (“river, sea”), *müren. Cognate with Dongxiang moron, etc. Semantically compare to Chinese 江 (jiāng) and Manchu ᡠᠯᠠ (ula).
