Borrowed from a Middle Iranian descendant of Proto-Iranian *waz-(to carry, drive), from Proto-Indo-European *weǵʰ-. Compare especially Manichaean Parthian wz-(waz-, to move swiftly, fly; to travel; to blow (of wind)).
