From the Proto-Turkic root *yạĺ(č)- (to blaze, flame), the same source of ایشیمق (ışımak, to shine) and ایشین (ışın, flash, gleam, lightning glow); cognate with Azerbaijani işıq (light) and Turkmen yşyk (light).
