Borrowed from Classical Syriac ܝܲܥܩܘܿܒ݂ (yaʿqōḇ) or Biblical Hebrew יַעֲקֹב (yaʿaqōv). Corresponding to Arabic يَعْقُبُ (yaʕqubu, he follows).
