Classical Syriac[edit]


From the root ܓ-ܡ-ܪ (ɡ-m-r). Compare Akkadian [script needed] (gumāru) and Arabic جَمْرَة (jamra(t)).

Usage notes[edit]

The plurals ܓܡܘܪܬܐ and ܓܡܘܪܝܬܐ are used for the sense of "Eucharist" while the plural ܓܘܡܪܐ is used for other senses.
