[edit]Inherited from Aramaic סַתְוָא (saṯwā) and reshaped under the noun pattern 1i23ā; related to Classical Syriac ܣܲܬ݂ܘܵܐ (saṯwā), Turoyo ܣܱܬ݂ܘܐ (säṯwo), Arabic شِتَاء (šitāʔ), and Hebrew סְתָו (s'táv, “autumn”).
