Etymology
[edit]Probably borrowed from Dravidian, ultimately from Proto-Dravidian *kuṭV (“eyeball”);[1] compare Kannada ಗುಡಸು (guḍasu, “anything round”), Telugu గుడ్డు (guḍḍu, “egg, eyeball”), Tamil குண்டு (kuṇṭu, “anything globular”). Compare also गोल (gola).
