Inherited from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀞𑀻𑀓𑁆𑀓 (*ṭhīkka). Related to ठिकाना (ṭhikānā). Cognate with Punjabi ਠੀਕ (ṭhīk) / ٹھِیک (ṭhīk), Gujarati ઠીક (ṭhīk), Sindhi ٺيِڪُ / ठीकु, Marathi ठीक (ṭhīk), Oriya ଠିକ (ṭhikô), Bengali ঠিক (ṭhik).
