From Proto-Indo-Aryan *dáśa, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *dáĉa, from Proto-Indo-European *déḱm̥. Cognate with Avestan 𐬛𐬀𐬯𐬀 (dasa), Ancient Greek δέκα (déka), Latin decem, Old English tīen (whence English ten).[1]
