Wasei kango (和製漢語), orthographically borrowed from Japanese 動脈(どうみゃく) (dōmyaku, artery), which was in turn a semantic readaptation of Chinese 動脈动脉 (dòngmài, “one of the twenty-eight pulses in TCM”).
