Etymology[edit]
Compound of 石 (ishi, “stone, rock”) + 蹴り (keri, “kicking”, the 連用形 (ren'yōkei, “continuative or stem form”) of verb 蹴る (keru, “to kick”)).[1][2][3][4][5]
First cited to the late 1800s.[1]
