Etymology
[edit]Compound of 尾 (o, “tail; end”) + 高 (taka, “high”, rendaku form 高 (daka)) + 型 (-kata, “type”, rendaku form 型 (gata)), in reference to the last mora of the word (the "tail") having the accent, followed by a downstep.[1]

- a pitch accent pattern in Japanese where the first mora is low pitch, then the pitch rises until the final and accented mora, followed by an immediate downstep with any following particle or other unaccented word having low pitch
- Examples:
- Before the particle の, Odaka words deaccent, or become Heiban, but there are exceptions: Category:Japanese terms with Odaka pitch accent not deaccented before の (Tōkyō)
