Transcription of a foreign term from the west. Compare Sogdian [script needed] (cngryʾ /⁠čangaryā⁠/), [script needed] (cyngryʾ /⁠čingaryā⁠/), both names of this instrument in the Sogdian language, as well as Persian چنگ (čang) and the Turkic harp of çeng.
