Etymology[edit]

From either Malay Suluk (Sulu) or directly from Tausug Sulug, an older form of Sūg (Sulu), possibly from Tausug sulug, an older form of sūg (current), loaned via Hokkien.[1][2] Compare Maranao Solog, Malay Suluk.
