Etymology
[edit]From Old Japanese. Orthographic borrowing from Chinese 雲雀 / 云雀 (yúnquè).
Some sources state it is derived from the fact that it chirps on sunny days (日晴り), while others say that it is derived from the sound of its chirping. (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?)

[edit]Usage notes
[edit]As with many terms that name organisms, this term is often spelled in katakana, especially in biological contexts (where katakana is customary), as ヒバリ (hibari).
