Etymology[edit]

(se-, to be strong) + 차다 (chada, to be full).

First attested in the Cheobhae sineo (捷解新語/첩해신어), 1676, as Early Modern Korean 세ᄎᆞ다 (Yale: seychota).

Pronunciation[edit]

  • (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [ˈsʰe̞(ː)t͡ɕʰa̠da̠]
  • Phonetic hangul: [(ː)]
