First attested in the Bullyu dugong busi eonhae (分類杜工部詩諺解 / 분류두공부시언해), 1481, as 딮다 (Yale: tiphta).

  1. To rely, rest (on a cane, stick, etc.)
    짚고 헤엄치기‎ ― ttang jipgo heeomchigi ― as easy or safe as swimming (with the arms) resting on the ground
  2. To dip (a dipstick to stand on the bottom)
  3. To point (at something specific as (if) with a finger)
  4. To touch, feel (at some body part to examine the temperature, pulses, etc.)
  5. To guess, estimate (relying on, or starting from, some baseline)
