From -d (frequentative suffix) +‎ -k (obsolete instantaneous suffix) +‎ -l (frequentative suffix) with linking vowels.[1]

  1. (frequentative suffix, rare) Added to a verb to form another verb to express the frequent repetition of an action.
    ‎bújik (“to hide”) + ‎-dokol → ‎bújdokol (“to be hiding”)
    ‎fal (“to devour”) + ‎-dokol → ‎faldokol (“to be devouring”)
    ‎fúl (“to drown”) + ‎-dokol → ‎fúldokol (“to be drowning”)
    ‎hal (“to die”) + ‎-dokol → ‎haldokol (“to be dying”)
    ‎nyom (“to press”) + ‎-dokol → ‎nyomdokol (“to be pressing on”)

Usage notes[edit]

  • (frequentative suffix) It is used only by a few one-syllable verbs. No longer productive. Variants:
    -dokol is added to back-vowel verbs
    -dekel is added to unrounded front-vowel verbs
    -dököl is added to rounded front-vowel verbs
