Schlampe
German
Alternative forms
Etymology
From Low German Schlampe (“low-hanging skirt”)[1].
Pronunciation
Noun
Schlampe f (genitive Schlampe, plural Schlampen, masculine Schlamperich or Schlamper)
- a woman who slights to take care of her body, slattern
- (derogatory) unkempt woman, one who is lazy in grooming her body or her domestic environment
- (vulgar, derogatory) sexually promiscuous woman, slut, sket
Usage notes
It appears that German lacks an established term to properly designate promiscuous woman irrespectively of her general cleanly or orderly appearance corresponding to modern English slut, though Flittchen and other less common terms may stand for it.
