Etymology
From Spanish pimiento (“bell pepper; later any pepper”), from Latin pigmentum (“coloring; colorful thing”), from pingō (“to paint”) and -mentum (“denoting instruments and results of actions”). Doublet of pigment, piment, and pimento.
