The phrase toneless final syllable variant, is the English translation for this word, and I created the wiktionary pages for both. Toneless final syllable variant is the standard translation used in wiktionary for 重·次輕詞語 and may not reflect the translation of the term in academic circles (which I am totally unaware of). Here's an example of the term's usage on wiktionary: at the 聰明 page, if you click 'Expand' on the Pronunciation drop down box on that page, you will see this: "cōngming (toneless final syllable variant)". The term 'toneless final syllable variant' is extremely obscure and needs some definition and context. I suggest that the phrase 'toneless final syllable variant' be linked to this page, so that people can click on it whenever it comes and find out what we are saying when we say that 聰明 can be read as cōngming and cōngmíng according to personal judgement/taste.
