This is extremely common... especially in handwritten name lists and notes. I would have taken plenty of pictures to show this usage if I knew this was to be nominated for RFV, but... Wyang (talk) 06:57, 25 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
If there are difficulties in typesetting "g̃", finding cites might be hard.

I have done some searching and although I found plenty on social media sites, I couldn't find any published books.
