Some citations suggest rabes is either a Latinate-ly pronounced plural or lemma:

Seems to only exist in the term broccoli rabe. This, that and the other (talk) 14:28, 3 January 2022 (UTC)

Cited as a (marginal) shortening of broccoli rabe, when the full name has either already been mentioned or will be mentioned later. I would remove the cite that's just "broccoli rabe", which is currently under the "raab" sense, and drop.merge that sense because AFAICT it's the other way around — I just created raab as an alt form of rabe in the sense of broccoli rabe. - -sche (discuss) 21:24, 3 January 2022 (UTC)

Intriguingly, this cite seems to treat "raab" as something more than just "broccoli raab/rabe" (here, the author provides other terms for "cabbage raab"), and while I can't find any hits for "cabbage rabe" this cite does speak of "the rabe of your broccoli". Also, some books mention a dish rabes which is pronounced Latinately, which might be a lemma of its own (a la rabies, feces) and not just a plural of rabe. - -sche (discuss) 21:52, 3 January 2022 (UTC)

I have cited rabe as distinct from broccoli rabe (although it includes one cite for broccoli rabe) -- according to the 2017 cite, it is the flower of any of the brassicas (which would include that cabbage raab), and so I have several other cites for rabes that are not broccoli rabe. Note that broccoli rabe is not actually broccoli, but is rape (Brassica napus) or rapini . Kiwima (talk) 23:47, 3 January 2022 (UTC)
