The sorting in the called lua module is broken at as far as this template is concerned. Look at onion#Derived_terms, in which the list is already sorted but the output is in some oddly shuffled order. Perhaps it's sorting by template source code rather than basic entry text. Entries using the "vern" template seem to be grouped together. I'm going to disable the sort flag until the sorting code is fixed. — hippietrail (talk) 06:06, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

Another problem[edit]

That's not the only problem with this unpleasant template. It has display problems, that I've seen a few times: (1) It does not allow a section header, but simply plops a duplicate "Derived terms" below the "Derived terms" header that is already present, (2) It incorrectly displays some terms --look at orange#Derived_terms, where "satsuma" orange displays as "atsuma orange", "sour orange" as "our orange", "sweet orange" as "weet orange". This damn template has issues. -- · (talk) 04:35, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

Your first point makes no sense, and fixed 2. DTLHS (talk) 04:47, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

complex sorting[edit]

I would appreciate a parameter to "hide (a related item) from humans": computers/tools need all relations, while humans only need the most popular. d1g (talk) 11:36, 10 March 2017 (UTC)

Still sorts incorrectly[edit]

Look at the derived terms of the vassal noun which sorts vassal state after vassalship, whereas it should appear between envassal and vassalage. Urhixidur (talk) 21:03, 28 July 2018 (UTC)

@Urhixidur: Module:columns does the sorting, and it removes punctuation and spaces before sorting the terms. I don't know the reasoning for that. — Eru·tuon 23:48, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
