Page labelling

Hey @Saltmarsh, I really don't think we should leave notices like that on the talkpage, or really be indefinitely protecting regular pages at admin level at all. Is there a good reason for this? —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 22:06, 10 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Metaknowledge: I raised the subject in the Beer parlour in July, it didn't elicit a response so I went ahead anyway since its not irrevocable. This example shows the way that noun forms common to two nouns might be treated, an aide-memoire and an example that could be discussed. The pages are protected to stop casual/unnoticed edits.   — Saltmarshσυζήτηση-talk 06:24, 11 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Saltmarsh: I'm sorry I didn't notice it. I still think that it is rather unprofessional-looking to have the notice on the page, and not likely to be a problem that it's admin-protected, but still unnecessary as long as you're watching the page. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 06:35, 11 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Metaknowledge: Your initial enquiry mentions "talkpage" - do you mean that or the banner on the "entry page"?   — Saltmarshσυζήτηση-talk 06:43, 11 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Saltmarsh: My error; I meant entry page. I think it would be quite fine on the talkpage. Would you be OK with that? —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 07:18, 11 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Metaknowledge: I have made the label much less obtrusive.   — Saltmarshσυζήτηση-talk 07:29, 12 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Saltmarsh: That's better, I suppose... I'll take what I can get. :) Thanks! —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 07:38, 12 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

No other language has model pages, especially not with labels in the upper right-hand corner advertising them. I raised this before at Template talk:el-model-page, but now I'd like to see what others think. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 04:35, 4 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • keep — I would suggest that other languages should consider having model pages. (1) New editors find them a useful guide. (2) They form the basis for any discussions about page format. Does an unobtrusive note do any harm? — Saltmarsh. 07:45, 4 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Delete, you know my stance on this. I'm not necessarily opposed to the idea of "model pages", I'm just opposed to any kind of notice in the main space: this piece of information concerns the editors, not the viewers/readers. --Barytonesis (talk) 12:17, 4 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Delete and move any examples of how to use templates correctly to an About (or * entry guidelines) page instead, or even a user page. — SURJECTION / T / C / L / 14:03, 3 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
