Taxonomy[edit]

Carpathian Rusyn, together with Russian, Belorussian and Ukrainian forms the East Slavic subgroup of the Slavic sub-branch of the Indo-European language family.

It should not be confused with Pannonian Rusyn, which is a language of the West Slavic subgroup of the Slavic languages, although the two languages share many similarities.

Orthography[edit]

The current orthography of Latvian words follows the Ukrainian standard alphabet (adopted in its present form after World War II), which consists of 33 letters:

А Б B Г Ґ Д Е Є Ё Ж З І Ї И Ы Й К Л М Н О П Р С Т У Ф Х Ц Ч Ш Щ Ю Я Ь
а б в г ґ д е є ё ж з і ї и ы й к л м н о п р с т у ф х ц ч ш щ ю я ь

Before World War II, there were an extra letter, Ѣ/ѣ, no longer in use, but still found in older books.

Main outline[edit]

A Rusyn entry should follow a structure compatible with WT:ELE. For instance, for nouns, this is the (maximal) structure (any sections for which there is no information are of course left out):
