allas
Finnish
Etymology
From Lua error in Module:parameters at line 290: Parameter 2 should be a valid language or etymology language code; the value "fiu-fin-pro" is not valid. See WT:LOL and WT:LOL/E., a Germanic loan from Proto-Germanic *aldǭ (“trough”) (whence eg. Norwegian olda). The ending has probably been modified to -as by analogy with other Germanic loans (such as valas). Karelian allaš (“trough”) is of the same origin. Doublet with aalto.
