Vietnamese

Etymology

chúng (pluralising particle) +‎ ta (I; me).

Pronunciation

Pronoun

chúng ta

  1. we; us (including persons spoken to)
Tháng sau chúng ta kết hôn.
Không phải "chúng ta". "Chúng tôi" mới đúng.
    We'll get married next month.
Not "we" as in "you and me", it's "we" as in "him and me".
  2. (colloquial) you guys; y'all
Chúng ta có hiểu không ạ?
    Is that clear, everyone?

Usage notes

  • It is important to be aware of the difference between chúng tôi and chúng ta, in order not to cause confusion.
