Etymology[edit]

A pseudo-Latin prefix based upon Latin extra- (outside, beyond) under the influence of the distinction between Latin intro- (inwards) and intra- (inside, within). Formations in English are mostly limited to words formed as antonyms of terms formed with intro-.
