From hypocritic + -al, from ὑποκριτικός ‎(hupokritikós), from ὑποκριτής ‎(hupokritḗs, actor, hypocrite), from ὑποκρίνομαι ‎(hupokrínomai, I play a part on stage), from ὑπό ‎(hupó, below) + κρίνω ‎(krínō, I choose).
