From epenthesis of earlier ikalwa, from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *ika-duha, from Proto-Austronesian *Sika-duSa. Equivalent to ika- +‎ luwa (two, older variant of dalawa). Compare Cebuano ikaduha.
