English[edit]

Noun[edit]

karhi (countable and uncountable, plural karhis)

  1. Alternative form of kadhi (Indian chickpea curry)

Finnish[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Most likely karhea +‎ -i. Derivation from a root *karča (twig) has also been proposed; in which case the word would be akin to Moksha кархча (karxča), Western Mari карша (karša), though this seems unlikely due to an absence of cognates elsewhere in Finnic.[1]

Pronunciation[edit]

  • IPA(key): /ˈkɑrhi/, [ˈkɑrhi]
  • Rhymes: -ɑrhi
  • Syllabification: kar‧hi

Noun[edit]
