German[edit]

Pronunciation[edit]

  • IPA(key): /ˈmaɪ̯nətˌveːɡən/, ˌmaɪ̯nətˈveːɡən/

Adverb[edit]

meinetwegen

  1. because of me, for my sake
    Das ist alles meinetwegen passiert.
All of this happened because of me.
  2. as far as I am concerned (I don't mind if); for all I care
    Meinetwegen können Sie mitkommen.
As far as I am concerned, you can come with us.

Usage notes[edit]

Colloquially, wegen is usually constructed with the dative case, thus wegen mir instead of meinetwegen. In sense 2, however, both are equally common in the vernacular.
