From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Middle English over-, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Old English ofer- (over-), from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Germanic *ubar- (over-). Cognate with Dutch over-, German über-, Danish over-, Swedish över-. More at over.
