Etymology

Affrication of earlier ڤنشين pensyen from English pension,[1] from Anglo-Norman pencione, Old French pencion, and their source, borrowed from Latin pēnsiō, pēnsiōnem (payment, weight, rent, compensation), from the participle stem of pendere (to weigh). Doublet of pensiun.
