From Old French ravir, from Vulgar Latin *rapīre, from Latin rapere, present active infinitive of rapiō, from Proto-Italic *rapiō, from Proto-Indo-European *h₁rp-i-, from *h₁rep- (“to snatch”).

Conjugation
