Finnish[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Unknown. Relationship to Old Hight German runsa ‎(running water, stream) has been proposed, but this is semantically distant, especially considering the Karelian and Ludic cognates runsas, ruznaz, meaning "sizable".

Pronunciation[edit]

  • IPA(key): [ˈrunsɑs]
  • Hyphenation: run‧sas
