sun visor (plural sun visors)

  1. (automotive) A flap attached to the interior of an automobile by a hinge just above the windscreen/windshield, used to shade the eyes of occupants from the glare of sunlight.
    • 1958 July, “German Railbuses for British Railways”, in Railway Magazine, page 501:
      The driver's window in each cab is fitted with an electrically-operated windscreen wiper, a sun visor, and a defroster, heated from a nozzle.
