Etymology 1

Sino-Vietnamese word from 實.

This reading is due to use of 寔 (SV: thực) in place of 實 / 实 and was more widely applied in Đàng Ngoài, while in Đàng Trong, thiệt was (and still is) more common as a free morpheme.
