Etymology 1[edit]
From Proto-Albanian *wesi, from earlier *ōusi, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂ṓws- and dual ending *-ih₁. Cognate with Lithuanian ausìs (“id”), Ancient Greek οὖς (oûs), Latin auris. According to Witczak, it is the source of Doric Greek βαίεσσα (baíessa).
