Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀉𑀡𑁆𑀡𑀸 (uṇṇā), from Sanskrit ऊर्णा (ū́rṇā), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *Hwŕ̥HnaH, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂wĺ̥h₁neh₂ (wool). Doublet of ऊर्णा (ūrṇā), a tatsama.
