Japanese[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From です.
Pronunciation[edit]
Verb[edit]
- Contraction of です.
Suffix[edit]
- (colloquial, informal) informal polite marker, attaching to the non-polite form at the end of a sentence, ruder than regular polite forms です (desu) and ます (-masu)
Usage notes[edit]
- If the original non-polite sentence ends with だ (da), っす replaces だ.
- Very colloquial and not considered standard. Often used by male students.
