From Proto-Albanian * ̊bu(n)ś-, or *en-busa[1], from Proto-Indo-European *bheu-(s-) 'to blow up, puff out, swell'. Cognate to Ancient Greek βύνω (búnō), βύω (búō, to cram, clutter)[2], Middle Irish buas (sac, bag, pocket, belly), Old Norse puss (pocket, sack, bag), Norwegian baus (proud, rollicking, wanton, violent, quick-tempered), English booze.
